This feature class was developed to divide the City of Shoreline into Maintenance Zones for Surface Water purposes.
<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><P STYLE="margin:0 0 7 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>This feature class was developed to divide the City of Shoreline into Maintenance Zones for Surface Water and Street Maintenance purposes.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 7 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>In order to create these Maintenance Zones, the City of Shoreline was divided into roughly 0.25 square mile areas using the City Limits as its outside perimeter boundary. The internal boundaries were then edited to align with the road centerlines or tax parcel lines to form the boundaries. Use of the road centerlines and/or tax parcels was done to create a better functional area for Surface Water and Streets crews. The Highlands neighborhood was excluded from this process since they have their own Surface Water Utility and Street Maintenance crew.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 7 0;"><SPAN><SPAN>These maintenance zones were then named using a convention based on the six regions of the City of Shoreline. Aurora Ave N (SR 99) and I-5 divide the City into East, Central and West regions. N 175th St divides the City into North and South regions. Each maintenance zone was also given a number starting in the Northwest corner and ending in the Southeast corner.</SPAN></SPAN></P><P STYLE="margin:0 0 7 0;"><SPAN>After much use, it was discovered that work flow on State Highway 99 has a different protocol than other less traveled streets. State Highways require at least a two man crew for surface water and street maintenance due to the volume and speed of the road. So, the Aurora Ave N Right-of-Way was created to better suit the function of the workflows.</SPAN></P></DIV>
